DEVELOPMENT AND VALIDATION OF AN APPLICATION FOR PREVENTION OF SLEEP DISORDERS IN PUERPERAL WOMEN

Introdução

Sleep deprivation and sleep fragmentation are considered frequent causes of sleep disorders in the puerperal stage. Although it is considered a transitory stage, with no defined date for return to normal sleep, the puerperal woman may have cumulative sleep disturbances. Therefore, it is important to develop self-learning strategies to minimize the negative consequences of sleep deprivation in the postpartum period.

Objetivo

This study describes the process of developing and validating a free self-learning application for preventing sleep disorders in postpartum women.

Métodos

Methodological research in three stages: literature review, construction of the application and validation of the application. For the construction of the educational media a literature review was performed and software development kits (SDK) for Android devices were used through the co-design methodology adapted from Millard. Content Validation Index (CVI) was used for content and appearance validation by experts with experience in Human Chronobiology and a minimum Master's Degree. The usability evaluation was performed by the target audience formed by puerperal women, through the System Usability Scale (SUS) questionnaire and a minimum score of 68 points.

Resultados

The application was completed with 19 screens involved Importance of good quality sleep, Sleep in the postpartum period, Adequate sleep in the puerperium and Strategies for improving sleep domains. The content and appearance validation of the app program was performed by five experts with experience in chronobiology research and/or teaching, and most of them with a doctoral degree. This validation stage obtained a minimum CVI of 0.80. The usability evaluation was carried out by a group of thirty-six puerperal women, with a prevalence of normal births, complete secondary education and multiparous. The SUS score obtained was 78.8 points.

Conclusões

The "Sono no pós-parto" application obtained satisfactory content validation and appearance. The usability evaluation obtained a score considered good. Thus, the application can be considered a suitable tool for use in teaching-learning on subjects related to sleep in the puerperium. It is expected that the application can be reformulated to attend other women profiles.
