EXPRESSION OF REST-ACTIVITY RHYTHM IN HEALTHY INDIVIDUALS AND THOSE WITH COMMON MENTAL DISORDERS: ISACamp-Sono data analysis
Introdução
INTRODUCTION: The common mental disorder is a systematized concept to designate nonspecific somatic complaints without the presentation of psychotic signs and symptoms. The most common characteristics include insomnia, irritability, fatigue, difficulty concentrating and nonspecific somatic complaints. This condition is highly prevalent in Brazil and worldwide and does not meet all criteria for diagnosis by the ICD-10 (International Classification of Diseases) and DSM-5 (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders).
Objetivo
OBJECTIVE: To identify the expression of rest-activity rhythm in individuals with and without common mental disorders.
Métodos
METHODS: The actigraphy records of 270 healthy individuals and those with common mental disorders that constituted a sub-sample drawn from the Campinas Municipal Health Survey (Inquérito de Saúde do Município de Campinas - ISACamp-Sono) 2014/2015 will be analyzed. Participants used the Actiwach 2® Actimeter (Phillips Respironics, Inc.) for seven consecutive days, with 1-minute epoch lengths. Statistical analyses will be performed using SPSS® 22 and STATA 11. The analyses will consist of prevalence estimates and 95% confidence intervals for the studied events, using single and multiple Poisson regression models. Associations between variables will be tested through the Chi-square test, considering the significance level of 5%. Actigraphy data will be analyzed through non-parametric analysis, using the following parameters: M10 (mean activity over 10 hours of highest activity), L5 (mean activity over 5 hours of lowest activity), RA (circadian rhythm amplitude), IV (intraday variability) and IS (interday stability). The following sleep variables will be estimated using the Actiware 6.0.8 software algorithm (Phillips Respironics, Inc.): time in bed (TIB), total sleep time (TST), sleep onset latency (SOL), sleep efficiency (SE), wakefulness after sleep onset (WASO) and number of awakenings. The Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI-BR), Epworth Sleepiness Scale (ESS-BR), Sleep Diary and the Common Mental Disorders Questionnaire (SRQ-20) will also be used. The project will be sent to the research ethics committee of the institution.
