SLEEP CHANGE, DEPRESSIVE SYMPTOMS, QUALITY OF LIFE, PHYSICAL ACTIVITY LEVEL, AND PHYSICAL PERFORMANCE IN ELDERLY
Introdução
Population aging is a reality in many countries, including Brazil, where the number of individuals over 60, considered elderly, has grown significantly in recent decades, with growth rates of over 4% per year from 2012 to 2022. With the presence of changes that occur during the aging phase, physical activity becomes a potential means of retarding functional decline, reducing the onset of chronic disease in healthy or chronically ill elderly. Thus, the association of physical activity with health, quality of life and aging has become the target of scientific research today.
Objetivo
The aim of this study is to evaluate the relationship between changes in sleep pattern and physical activity level in the elderly.
Métodos
This is a cross-sectional analytical study with a quantitative approach. The sample will be made up of 400 elderly, male and female, aged 60 years or older resident in the city of Fortaleza-CE, with reports of changes in sleep pattern. Participants will complete questionnaires involving sociodemographic information, health indicators, physical activity level, sleep quality and daytime sleepiness levels. Subsequently they will undergo a physical evaluation. The project will be submitted to the Research Ethics Committee and after its approval, patients will be instructed to read each item of the Informed Consent Form (ICF), complete and sign the document, which explains the procedures that will be used during the research. Statistical analysis will be performed using the Stastistical Package for Social Sciences V24.0 program.
